Scratch Game Design

Title: Scratch Game Design Label: GT Portfolio
I: Explain how user experience influenced your game
B: Compare & contrast the features of each game
C: Describe your best code & most difficult bug fixes
Embed all Scratch games & SS your best code

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post! for the pass couple of weeks my class has been dong coding and we are now making our own video games on a website called Scratch. We have made two scratch games already - A platformer game and a chase game. My first ever scratch game I made was the chase game. the user's experience made me influenced my game by using scary sprites to chase the cat. I also just chose the default cat as my sprite-1 because it was my first game ever in scratch.

Composition Scavenger Hunt

Hello everybody and thank you for reading this weeks blog! Today I will be talking about composition techniques. The on technique I think is the most important is Rule of thirds (subject). I chose rule of thirds (subject) because I think if we never have rule of thirds (subject) then how will we interview somebody the proper way. You can't just put somebody smack dab in the middle and it won't have any power and emotion. It's also the easiest technique of all. And that's the most important technique to me.

I think the most difficult technique is leading lines because you have to make environmental lines leading to a subject. To me, finding environmental lines pointing to a subject is super hard. The only leading lines example to me is a school hallway at Kapa'a High School. I think we could use this more when But to me is really hard to find so that's why leading lines are hard to me and how I could use it.

My team is very helpful! So right now, I'm gonna tell you what we all did. Ala and Mele took the videos and I was like the actor and kind of the ideas. But Ala and Mele was mostly the ideas. I was mostly the actor. Ala was also the person to tell us what to do and editing. Mele also edited. So thank you for reading this week's blog and see you next time.

Cracking the Code

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post called Cracking the Code! Now we are doing another project about but that's all I really know about it. I think that everybody and I mean EVERYBODY should be able to code because it is as easy as making hot pockets. Also because coding is fun. You could code something to do something. It's basically like commanding a dog to move or sit or stay but more like a computer. People can finally upgrade to thing e next generation and finally learn to code. Coding may look hard but that's also good. Coding can help you move anything on your device. That's why everyone should know how to code.

My first experience with code was actually in 3rd grade when I was in lego robotics and Me and my friends learned how make the robot move and do certain types of things.  For example, we built like a crane to roll a ball and hit bowling pins. I've been doing that from 3-5 grade but didn't code until a week or two ago. And i'm in 7th grade right now! So it's been a long time since i've coded. And that was the first time I've coded.

If I could design any program or game I would wanna design Instagram because I like going on Insta and I think it's a fun to share things to other people. I'd like to make something that I like and make it better. I could probably code it so people can't hack into other people's accounts. I'd also try to code it so it would stop people from bullying online. Thank you for reading this week's blog. See you next time!

My Humorous Monologue

Hello everybody and thank you again for reading this week's blog! Today I will continue talking about my comedic monologue. Right now I will tell you what I learned from this project. Some of the stuff I learned were new and old information. I also forgot some of my old information so if I mention something that I already know then this is why. I learned how to use the cameras properly and import the videos to the computer. I learned that on the cards that go into the camera, they're these little switches to lock or unlock a card. This is something I definitely learned. I also learned how to make a funny joke. I learned how to grade our project. Those were the things I learned in this project.

Something I definitely learned and did not include because I'm going to talk about it right now is padding. If you don't know what padding is, I'll tell you what it is in my own words. Padding is when you start the video and let it play to the minimum of 3 seconds and say action. When you're done with the video wait a minimum of 3 seconds and say cut. That is basically padding. I think padding is crucial because you could start a video and the camera wouldn't be ready to record and then your video will be missing a couple of parts in the beginning of your video. Also at the end because it could cut off some of the parts at the end. And that was what padding is and why it is crucial.

So I found out that my comedic monologue was the best of the whole class! But I'm not going to talk about that. Right now I'll be talking about weaknesses, strengths, and what I could've done to improve. I think the weaknesses I had in this project was trying to get the bingo shots. I had to get bingo shots ASAP. I didn't know when or where to get bingo props. So I just thought as this to be the best possible way to do this. My strengths were probably the joke writing because like I said earlier, I'm growing up watching Seinfeld and I just got great feed back from the series. Probably I could've improve by getting something easier than a bingo game. But I think I chose it because I was trying to think of the boringest (I know that's not a word.) thing in the world. So that was why I chose a bingo game. But now that I think about it, I think I could've use something like channel surfing or something. I don't know. Well that was my post for this week and I'll try to keep you updated during this fall break. So that's all. See you next time and have a great fall break!

Comedy Writing

Hello everybody! I'm Makaio if you don't already know and you probably already know that I'm in a new project about comedy. I don't know if you know this but not only is it my first time doing this project but it is also Mr. Sanderl's first time teaching this project. I think a sense of humor is an important character's trait because everybody loves to have fun. People would like other people that likes having fun. People wouldn't like people who don't like having fun. When people are having fun, they tend to laugh. I learned that the easy way, by laughing everyday. People don't wanna be like robots and don't have a sense of humor. That's why I think a sense of humor is a important character trait.

Here are some tips to make a humorous narrative. These tips might not work because this is my way of making a hilarious narrative. Tip #1: Think of something that you don't like. This works because if you say it with sarcasm it will seem funny to the viewers. Tip #2: Say it with expressions. Like I said with the sarcasm, if you say it in a way that you don't mean it or in a really funny voice, you'll get to the readers funny bone. If would probably also help if you do funny hand gestures. Tip #3: Practice, practice, practice! Practice reading it to make it how you would want to say it. Tip #4: Share. It may not seem funny to you but if you can ask someone to read it and make sure it's funny and makes sense. Tip #5: Confidence. Now that you made your joke now all you have to do is have the confidence to say it to your audience. That was 5 tips (my way) to make a joke.

My comedic monologue is funny because I made nothing into something funny. I chose Bear Grylls because he actually has a pretty interesting life. I think my monologue is funny because it has funny Bear Grylls voices and pretty interesting things. I grew up watching Seinfeld and it is a really funny tv show. Before the show they show a little comedic monologue that he made. So I guess I learned a lot and think it that my monologue is pretty funny. I hope you liked  this weeks post. See you later!

Motivational Poster

C: Summarize biggest challenge & how to improve

Hello everyone and thank you for reading this weeks blog post. If you can already tell, this week's post is called Motivational Poster. The requirements of this project was to at least have our manifesto and our personal quotes in different text layers called Manifesto and Personal Quotes so we don't get mixed up. Then we would need 4 photos. The first three would be the three photos we posted on google+ called #gtsym1, #gtsym2, and #gtsym3. The last one would be of our face. Next we would copy and paste both Manifesto and Quotes in the text layers in photoshop. We would Kern them so they could fit the whole page like the top photo to the left. After, we would need to turn off the layers balance the 4 photos to fit the page. When your done with that, turn on both text layers and double click one of them and make sure that you adjust the text and make sure you turned on and adjust the drop shadow, stroke, outer glow, bevel and emboss. Then do the same thing with your other text layer. Make sure that your stroke is a triadic color with your other text layer. To change the color
to match with the text, Go to edit and go to adjustment layers and add Color Balance, Levels, Curves, and Exposure. And basically those are all the requirements for the motivational poster.

Then after, we must insert the three #gtsym from google+. Once you've inserted the three pictures from google+, then open your portrait with photoshop and put them together and visually balance them to look like what's to the left. After I wrote my Manifesto and quotes, I copied and pasted into two separate text layers in photoshop. Then turn off the pictures and Kern the quotes and manifesto to fit the page. Next change the drop shadow, stroke, outer glow, bevel and emboss on the text and the stroke a triadic color with the other text. Then I added he adjustment layer to match with the text. And that's what I did to make my motivational poster.

My biggest challenge was the Kerning. When I was trying to change this one sentence, it would always go to a different place. If I could do this again, I would get the pictures ready and do the kerning better.

Personal Manifesto

Hello everybody! I am now back in school still in G.T. My new G.T. blog post is about manifestos. Before I can get to that, I'll tell you five interesting and unique facts about me. One interesting and unique fact about myself is that I love going to the beach! I could be body boarding or digging a hole at the beach. I love the beach because when I just look at the beach, I just tell myself these words. "I'm so lucky to live here!" Another fact is that I am currently playing soccer and the fun part is that me and my friend Jeran are the most experienced players so we're like the team leaders on the team. A third fact about me is that this year, I'm in the ukulele and choir band. I signed up for ukulele because when I'm playing the ukulele, it's really fun to strum on. My fourth interesting fact is that I'm in a computer class called G.T. but you probably already know that because in G.T. I get to have my own blog! Finally my last unique fact is I got a really competitive family when it comes to sports. I have one last fact. My name is Makaio.

Now that I'm getting into a new G.T. project, where I get to make my own manifesto, here's what my manifesto will say. "Bodyboarding is fun. Goals represent the wave and once you've caught the barrel you have finished a goal. Once you've caught the wave, go for the barrel. If you miss the barrel, go back on your board and try again. Bring the wave your all. Show the wave that you can catch it. Get on your board and kick as hard as you can. Once you've gotten on the wave, turn to the barrel. Try your best to turn to the barrel. If you got through the barrel, you've done your life goal. Once you're done with that wave, go for another wave or in this case goal. Never stop giving up on anything." That was my 2015-16 personal manifesto.

I think my manifesto applies to readers because goals are things that people have a hard time doing. When people try reaching their goals but it becomes to hard for them so they just give up and do it later or never again. So that is I made this manifesto, because people always give up on their goals. It also applies to the readers because people think that doing one thing is hard, but it won't be hard once you've actually tried to do it. People are getting way to lazy just sitting on a couch either on their phone or watching television. So it applies to the readers also to not be lazy. Well, thank you for reading this blog post and see you in the next blog.
